Chelsea plays Barcelona on Wednesday evening in the second leg of their CL knockout tie and manager Antonio Conte has hit back at the media and pundits who are comparing Hazard to Barca’s Andres Iniesta.
“Hazard is more a number 10, and Iniesta is a midfielder. A midfielder who stays in the centre of Barcelona’s career. We are talking about two different players with different careers. Iniesta won a lot in his career. Hazard has to start to win important trophies in his career,” Conte said.
Hazard has won two Premier League titles, a Ligue 1 crown and a Europa League.
Iniesta is an eight-time La Liga winner, has won four Champions League titles and a World Cup with Spain.
Since 2009, the Spain international has been chosen in the UEFA Team of the Year six times and has been voted into the FIFA World XI on nine occasions. He won the UEFA Best Player in Europe Award in 2012 and was named the IFFHS World’s Best Playmaker in 2012 and 2013.
He was runner-up to Lionel Messi for the 2010 FIFA Ballon d’Or and achieved third place in 2012.
