Jermain Defoe is set to be fit to make a return from injury for AFC Bournemouth ahead of Newcastle clash.
Defoe, who signed a three year contract with Bournemouth last summer, has been absent with a fractured ankle since suffering the injury in a challenge by Chelsea youngster Ethan Ampadu during Bournemouth 2-1 Carabao Cup defeat on December 20.
However, the England international is back in training with the Bournemouth first-team and that is not the news Newcastle fans will want to hear either, given the fact the forward has netted eight times against the Magpies in his career – including two in just three Tyne-Wear derbies during his spell at Sunderland.
The Magpies are 13th with 28 points, while Bournemouth are three points and three places better off in 10th.
