Gianluigi Donnarumma won’t be leaving AC Milan in the summer.
The AC Milan goalkeeper has been linked with a move away from Italy and Manchester United was tipped the favourite to secure his services. It was reported that he could leave after reports claimed that Pepe Reina will arrive from Napoli this summer. The club’s director Massimiliano Mirabelli has insisted that the club will keep hold of the shot-stopper for many more years despite the exit rumours. Thursday night’s defeat to Arsenal in the Europa League means Milan can only now qualify for the Champions League via Serie A, but Mirabelli reassured Milan’s fans afterwards that the sale of their No. 1 goalkeeper is not up for discussion.
“ Apart from his mistake, he played a great game. We want him to stay with us for a long time. He’s a gem of ours and the whole of Italy and we’re keeping a tight grip on him,” said Mirabelli.
The Italian international signed a four-year contract with Milan last summer, but rumours have it that he will be sold this summer should they fail to qualify for the Champions League next season. Reports from Italy suggest that Pepe Reina has already undergone a medical and is set to join Milan on a free transfer in the summer.
