Eden Hazard was slammed by ex-United captain Roy Keane after the Chelsea ace failed to stop his side from crashing out of the Champions League at Nou Camp.
Hazard did not perform as expected on Wednesday night as his side suffered a 3-0 defeat in the hands of Barcelona despite having several good chances to score. Messi was in the headlines again, netting a brace and making an assist to send the Catalan giants to quarterfinals. Chelsea shot-stopper Thibaut Courtois was also criticised because of his performance conceding two simple goals which saw the Blues eliminated, leaving only Liverpool and Manchester City representing English teams in the competition.
There has been comparisons between Messi and Hazard and Keane speaking to ITV laughed off the comparisons. “He can be very, very good but to me there are just too many off days where he’s just not up to it. If you’re trying to compare him to Messi – he’s way behind him.”
“Messi and Ronaldo have been doing it year after year. They always seem to be fit. They play 50 or 60 games a season and they produce week in, week out. These other players that we are talking about don’t,” the Irish added.
Keane also heaped praise on Lionel Messi after he took his Champions League tally to the 100 mark following another magical performance from the Barcelona superstar.
