Gani Adams’ Installed  As The 15th Aare Ona Kakanfo of Yorubaland


Gani Adams’ founder of the Oduduwa People’s Congress (OPC) was on Saturday the 13th of January installed as the 15th Aare Ona Kakanfo of Yorubaland.

His installation came 19 years after the demise of the 14th Aare Ona Kakanfo, the businessman and politician Chief MKO Abiola.

The Page Magazine gathered that since Chief MKO Abiola who died on 7th July 1998 who also ran for the presidency in 1993, for which the election results were annulled by the preceding military president Ibrahim Babangida because of allegations that they were corrupt and unfair, is the 14th Aara Ona Kakanfo of the Yorubaland and since his death, no one has been seen worthy to replace that position until today.

It was gathered that normal traditional rites were performed on Gani Adams be the installation proper to make way for a successful reign in office.

Also while the traditional rites were been performed, the New Aare Ona Kakanfo of the Yorubaland used 15 calabashes to pray for unity and peace for Yoruba race and Nigeria.

The calabashes used belonged to 14 former Aare Ona Kakanfo and his own calabash making it 15.

While ceremony was in progress, Oba Adeyemi demolished the disunity which is going on in the Yorubaland among her sins and daughter and used the opportunity to task the new title holder to use his office to bring the Yoruba’s sons and daughters together.

In Adams’ response, he said the job can not be done by him  alone and that he needs the cooperation of all Yoruba sons and daughters, also promising to setup a foundation and a website to help promote this unite and also give out scholarship to the Yoruba’s children as education is very important for the growth of every nation.

In attendance was the Gov. Of Oyo, Oba Adeyemi, The Oluibadan, politicians across the nations, and other illustrious sons and daughters of the Yoruba’s nation.
