This year’s Tony Elumelu Foundation which was hosted in Lagos state from 13th to 14th of October 2017 at UBA House Lagos saw many dignitaries and young entrepreneurs both from Nigeria and other African Nations.
The event which had a very beautiful colour saw young entrepreneurs been motivated to fight for their dreams and make Africa great.
During the events, many notable speakers were presents to give a powerful speech and also the Vice president of Nigeria Professor Yemi Osibanjo was also not left out in the occasion as he spoke to the young entrepreneurs. In his speech he said and I quote
“In Africa, we have different potentials. These group of young individuals will do the exceptional; by all indications, these group will be the most successful. You are the reason Africa will work. The length and breadth of the talent displayed here has shown that there is indeed hope.
Hope and imagination are more potent than history. Your history is not necessarily your destiny.”
During the keynotes session address, the CEO of Tony Elumelu Foundation went further to address the young entrepreneurs who were ready to move Africa to the next level, telling them that it is not about how much you have in your bank account that matters but how are you able to use it to make a way for yourself and build a successful brands. In his speech, he said and I quote
“What matters is not what we keep in our bank account. What matters is the legacy we leave behind. You and other entrepreneurs must pass the baton until poverty is totally eradicated in Africa. The future is in your hands. Good luck.”
Chike Onyia, one of the speakers during the event said…….
“The first rule to maximising your potentials must be to establish some core values to live by, You can’t live a life based on how you feel. One of your core values must be to deliver excellence to your customers always… Remain relevant by staying innovative in other to meet your Customer’s needs.”
The African richest man was also not left in the course as he also spoke to the young entrepreneurs encouraging them to put in their best. In his speech The Nigeria’s foremost industrialist, Aliko Dangote said
“Entrepreneurship has the potential to be one of the most potent tools for Africa’s transformation. Entrepreneurship can increase jobs and increase the middle class.”
They were also notable CEOs , Politicians and so many who were present at the event and who also contributed but couldn’t be mentioned. Awards were also given to those who deserved it.
After the beautiful events, the young entrepreneurs who benefited greatly from the occasion went further to bless the founder of the Tony Elumelu Foundation for believing in the African youths and used the opportunity to ask God to continue to open greater doors for him and more wisdom.
